FRESNO, CALIFORNIA… January 6, 2021…James M. Ford, President and CEO of Central Valley Community Bank (Bank), is pleased to announce that four nonprofits have each received $37,500 Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco (FHLBank San Francisco) AHEAD Program grants as a result of the Bank's 2020 submission of grant applications on their behalf. This is the first time the Bank has been responsible for the awarding of four grants in the same year with funded dollars totaling $150,000. The Bank's AHEAD Program Grant recipients include:

"For over forty years, Central Valley Community Bank has proudly invested in the businesses that

"We couldn't be more proud of assisting four deserving organizations that are serving their communities through job training and housing opportunities or navigating the effects of the pandemic. Their work is truly inspiring. Thank you to FHLBank San Francisco for allowing these nonprofits to further serve their communities."

AHEAD Program grants provide funding for targeted economic development projects and programs that benefit lower-income communities. Grants are awarded annually to members partnering with local nonprofits or agencies to meet diverse local needs. In response to the economic shocks caused by the COVID-19 crisis, FHLBank San Francisco increased its planned 2020 funding allocation by $2 million, for a total of $3.5 million in AHEAD grants. projects that will boost economic development activity in underserved and low-income communities or provide immediate and long-term pandemic relief, including food, clothing, rental assistance, homeless services, health services and other support to the communities served.

"We congratulate Central Valley Community Bank on submitting four successful applications for AHEAD grants this year," said Marietta Núñez, Senior Vice President and Community Investment Officer at FHLBank San Francisco. "These four grant recipients provide essential services and resources to meet both the long-term and urgent needs of vulnerable members of their communities, and their solutions matter even more during this stressful and uncertain time."

Central Valley Community Bank Economic Development Grant Recipients

  • El Dorado County Community Health Center provides medical access for uninsured, underinsured, undocumented and other low-income patients, while also employing over 150 people. • Stockton Shelter for the Homeless, the largest emergency homeless shelter in San Joaquin County, addresses the needs of the homeless by providing safe shelter, basic necessities and a structured opportunity to regain self-sufficiency. The AHEAD grant will provide continued support to the "Welcome Home" program, and will partially fund a case manager at the men's shelter who

will identify men able to be placed into permanent housing with six months of support, as well as other needed programs for jobs, in-home care and drug and alcohol treatment.
