Beiersdorf AG said Thursday that sales rose in the first six months of the year, boosted by a strong performance of its consumer division, and confirmed its guidance for the full year.

The German maker of Nivea skin cream posted sales of 4.48 billion euros ($4.55 billion), up from EUR3.87 billion in the same period a year earlier. On an organic basis, the top line grew by 10.5%.

In the consumer-business segment, sales increased to EUR3.64 billion from EUR3.10 billion. In the Tesa self-adhesive business, sales rose to EUR838 million from EUR773 million a year ago, Beiersdorf said.

Net profit for the first half came to EUR495 million compared with EUR395 million a year earlier.

The company backed its previously given outlook for the full year. It reiterated that it expects organic sales growth at the upper end of the mid-single-digit range. It confirmed that it expects the earnings before interest and taxes margin at the previous year's level.

"2022 has been a successful year for us so far," Chief Executive Vincent Warnery said. "In the second half of 2022 we expect additional headwinds from economic and political tensions, and are confirming our full-year guidance," he said.
