MANILA, Jan 3 (Reuters) - The Philippines Stock Exchange said on Wednesday that trades in the bourse were halted.

It gave no reason for the trading halt but said it would make further announcements.

The benchmark stock exchange index opened 0.22% lower on Wednesday. But trades were halted after just four minutes.

The Philippine stock market runs daily from 0130 to 0700 GMT.

In January 2022, the stock exchange cancelled trading for an entire day because of technical problems, with more than a third of trading participants unable to establish a connection to the core trading engine. (Reporting by Neil Jerome Morales; Editing by Kanupriya Kapoor)
