Big Ben rings in Brexit and New Year

The famous bell sounded out at 11pm UK time - 12 midnight in Europe - to mark the country's exit from the EU's Single Market and the Custom's Union.

At midnight the bell rang out again for New Year, though central London was significantly more empty due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions.
