Wall Street rises on signs Iran may be open to talks with Washington
U.S. stock markets finished higher on Wednesday, lifted by reports pointing to a possible opening by Iran to discussions, as well as President Donald Trump's commitment to stabilize oil markets. Together, those developments helped ease fears of a prolonged conflict in the Middle East. The S&P 500 rose 0.78% to 6,869.5 points, the Dow Jones added 0.49% to 48,739.4 points and the Nasdaq 100 climbed 1.51% to 25,093.6 points.

Wall Street tumbles as Washington-Tehran escalation sends oil and yields soaring
US markets fell significantly on Tuesday as oil prices climbed again and investors fretted over a longer conflict between the United States and Iran. By 5 p.m. CET, the major indexes were all in the red: the S&P 500 was down 1.94% at 6,750 points, the Dow Jones fell 2.34% to 47,761 points and the Nasdaq 100 shed 2.49% to 24,371 points.
