An acceleration of procedures is needed to guarantee the actual take off of infrastructural projects in the estimated times

Milan, September 21, 2021 - "Italy has a great opportunity to change pace. Much has been done with the resources of the PNRR and with the political will to make concrete infrastructure investment projects across the country. But in order to be able to carry out the works timely and on schedule it is necessary to solve the structural problems of the construction sector and to ensure that the Italian system as a whole, together with institutions, companies, banks, is then able to actually build the infrastructures thereby generating GDP and employment. It is necessary to intervene on the system of guarantees, on the possibility of carrying out price revisions in contracts as well as contractual anticipation, to enable companies to operate in a competitive manner, and in compliance with market rules ".

This is what Webuild CEO Pietro Salini stated during his speech at the "EY Riforma Italia"Summit. Now, Next and Beyond ", organized by EY and the Luiss Business School featuring representatives of the institutional, economic, industrial and entrepreneurial world, for a careful reflection on the impact of the reforms envisaged by the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan on Italy's socio-economic system.

"It is a moment of epochal transition", added Salini. "To give Italy a new look it is necessary to leverage the industrial capacity of large Italian companies and a public-private cohesion to restart. Webuild is, in fact, investing and we have taken over companies in difficulty and saved thousands of jobs, hence supporting the entire supply chain of smaller companies because of our sense of social responsibility towards the industrial soul of this country, which boasts incredible levels of excellence. But we need the right tools to make these efforts effective. We need solutions now to subsequently be able to plan for the future".

Webuild is a leader in the infrastructure sector, active in over 50 countries, with a track record that includes the construction of over 13,600 km of railways and metros, approximately 80,300 km of roads and highways, 946 km of bridges and viaducts, and the excavation of over 2,300 kilometres of tunnels around the world. In Italy, it is currently involved in modernizing the country's transport system, including significant sections of the high-speed Naples / Bari and Verona / Padua railways, the Terzo Valico dei Giovi - Genoa junction, the Jonica State Road in Calabria, and new metro lines in Milan, Rome and Naples.
