After an extra-long wait, next summer is here: Streaming service Max from Warner Bros. Discovery is coming to Belgium, where the service will be called HBO Max. What this will mean for Streamz, which currently holds the rights to HBO content, is not clear.

On April 12 of this year, Warner Bros. Discovery announced its new streaming service Max. This is the successor to HBO Max, which will therefore include Warner Bros. films and series. The company also immediately announced many plans for the future, such as a series about Harry Potter and a new spin-off of Game of Thrones.

Belgium and France

Max has been available since May 23 and then launched in the United States, among other countries, as well as in 22 countries in Europe. That was not the case in Belgium, where HBO still has an ongoing agreement with Streamz. The streaming service is also not yet active in France. There you can find all of Max's content on Amazon Prime Video.

So now, with some delay, Max is coming to Belgium and France. According to the website Variety happen in the summer of 2024. Incidentally, the streaming service in the Benelux will simply be called HBO Max, because the rights to Max in the Netherlands already lie with Omroep Max and no deal could be reached with it.

Streamz

How much HBO Max will cost in Belgium is not yet clear. However, it seems certain that the launch will have consequences for Streamz. They are now relying heavily on customers who want to watch HBO series, but are in danger of losing this content. Streamz's original idea was to focus on Flemish content. However, the question is whether users are willing to pay as much for it.
