GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) _ W.R. Berkley Corp. (WRB) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $119.3 million.

On a per-share basis, the Greenwich, Connecticut-based company said it had profit of 62 cents. Earnings, adjusted for investment costs, came to 72 cents per share.

The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 72 cents per share.

The insurance company posted revenue of $1.98 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $1.88 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $681.9 million, or $3.52 per share. Revenue was reported as $7.37 billion.

W.R. Berkley shares have risen nearly 5% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $72.36, a climb of 45% in the last 12 months.
