"2012 Yellow Angel" - A strong new year's start for Volkswagen AG
 Group receives first place awards in three of five categories
 Wolfsburg / Munich, 19 January 2012 - Today, Thursday, ADAC honoured outstanding products, innovations and personalities for the eighth time in its "Yellow Angel" awards. The company that clearly led the pack in the view of the jury of experts and readers of ADAC Motorwelt magazine: the Volkswagen Group, which 'cleaned up' in three of five categories.

In the 'Car' category, the Audi Q3 was the winner. Readers of ADAC Motorwelt magazine chose the successful model from Ingolstadt as their favourite of 40 new cars, and this gave the Volkswagen Group the coveted first-place trophy.

Every year, ADAC - the largest automobile club in Europe - also honours new ideas for improving future mobility, transportation safety and the environment with its 'Innovation & environment' award. Volkswagen is a leader in this area, and it impressed the jury of experts with its development of the multicollision brake (MKB): this system initiates automatic braking after an initial collision to reduce accident severity and avoid any secondary collisions - entirely if possible. The MKB was recognised as an important new system for integral safety, and it will already be introduced in the next generation Golf.

Finally, the Passat TSI EcoFuel won in the 'Car of the future' category. A jury of experts evaluated vehicles currently being sold on the German market based on the criteria of everyday practicality, economy, environmental compatibility and safety. They found that the Passat TSI EcoFuel continues to be the benchmark in the field of natural gas powered vehicles.

The Volkswagen Group rounded out its excellent showing with its results in the 'Quality' category: Second place went to the Audi A5, and third place to the ŠKODA Superb. Ratings in this category are based on ADAC repair statistics and customer satisfaction studies for models that have been on the market for three years or less.
