Six high school seniors pursuing STEM education to receive $5,000 scholarships

Unitil, (www.unitil.com), a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers in New England, is proud to announce the 2021 recipients of the Unitil Scholarship Fund. Each year, Unitil recognizes five high school seniors pursuing degrees in STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) from Unitil service territories in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts by awarding them with $5,000 to go towards their first year of undergraduate study.
The 2021 students are:
Cooper Leppard of Concord, New Hampshire, a graduate of Concord High School. Cooper plans to study Global Health Studies at the University of Miami.
Isabella Makabali of Stratham, New Hampshire, a graduate of Exeter High School. Isabella plans to study Bio Informatics at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
John McDermott of Gardner, Massachusetts, a graduate of Gardner High School. John is undecided and looking at several STEM majors at UMASS Amherst.
Isabella Minai-Azary of Epping, New Hampshire, a graduate of Portsmouth Christian Academy. Isabella plans to study Chemistry at the University of California Santa Barbara.
Dawson Knapp of Sanford, Maine, a graduate of Sanford High School. Dawson plans to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maine.
As part of the program, a sixth student who is the child of a Unitil employee was also awarded a scholarship. Olivia Leblanc, a graduate of Lunenburg High School, was selected to receive this unique award. Olivia plans to study Nursing at Fitchburg State University.
Established in 2011, the program supports students who demonstrate exceptional potential for careers in STEM.
These six recipients were chosen from a large group of intelligent and motivated minds. We wish them well as they embark on their new adventures and continue to strive and achieve greatness.
