For the 5th consecutive year, Gap Inc. employees from all around the world (17 countries to be exact!) participated in Volunteer Rally, our annual fall campaign to support our communities.
In 2020, our employees have made a lot of adjustments - to their schedules, to how they collaborate with their colleagues, and even to how they can support and show up for their communities. So, for this year's Volunteer Rally, we rolled out a new model that would allow them to participate safely, while still making a big impact!
For Volunteer Rally: Team Challenge Edition, we invited employees to join one of four teams: Team Planet, Team Democracy, Team Belonging and Team Kindness. Each team rallied behind a value or commitment important to Gap Inc., from working and living more sustainably, to driving civic engagement and supporting equality and inclusivity, for all. Employees had access to educational tools and resources to learn more about each team's cause and complete weekly challenges that would contribute to overall progress both in and outside of Gap Inc.!
In total, nearly 20,000 employees completed one or more challenges (182 employees even completed all 16 challenges across all 4 teams!) and over 60,000 challenges were completed!
Some of the challenges completed:
* 5,963 employees told someone how they have helped them grow,
* 4,573 employees calculated their water footprint and committed to using less water,
* 2,262 employees made a plan to vote and registered to vote,
* 1,640 employees sought out an opportunity to invite new perspectives into an ideation session and/or joined an event celebrating Latinx Heritage Month.
In honor of our four teams and their core focuses, Gap Foundation is making donations to Make-A-Wish Foundation, WaterAid, Rock the Vote and CARE, for a total grant amount of $55,000. Learn more about Gap Inc.'s values and our commitments to supporting organizations like these.
