In the hacker attack on Teamviewer that became known last week, the attackers only penetrated the internal IT system, according to the Swabian software company.

It has been confirmed that neither the communication platform nor the product environment or customer data were affected, Teamviewer announced on Monday. The attackers used an employee's hacked account to siphon off files containing the names, contact information and confidential passwords of the workforce. Teamviewer has now tightened its authentication methods and is in the process of rebuilding the IT environment.

Teamviewer announced on Friday that, according to current knowledge, the Russian hacker group APT29, also known as "Midnight Blizzard" and allegedly acting on behalf of the Russian government, was behind the attack. The cyber attack caused the share price to plummet by ten percent to 10.00 euros. On Monday, it recovered by 2.3 percent.
