OPTIMUS SURPRISES LISBON WITH MEGA FLASHMOB

400 PEOPLE MADE SURE THAT THERE WAS AN ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE MUSICAL MOMENT

Optimus was behind one of the great musical moments of the year, by holding a mega flashmob that surprised Lisbon on the 12th of November and which was focused on the song "All Together Now", the sound track music of the brand's most recent institutional campaign involving a change of the company's slogan.
The action took place in the very heart of the city, more specifically in the Camões square, where hundreds of people came together to listen to 20 minutes of the music All Together Now, played and sung live by more than 280 musicians, who played the catchy song of the Beatles with new and different sounds in jazz, "a cappela", "chorinho" and classic versions.
Everything started when the musician Miguel Araújo Jorge went to the Luis de Camões square with his guitar and sat near the statue. He began playing the chords of the music All Together Now and within no time a group of percussionists and pedestrians who were drinking coffee in a bar came over and joined him in the song.
Then, taxi drivers on the Camões square joined the group, accompanying the music playing saxophones. When the music had become quite loud, singing voices began to be heard from people who appeared on verandas on buildings on the square, and from a musical group of University students who appeared from a nearby street, and then an orchestra conducted by the maestro Nuno Sá.
To the surprise of everyone, in only a few minutes, the square was full of musicians, singers and the general public, singing and playing the theme tune "All Together Now" along with the lead singer.
The CCTAR (Creative Street Art and Theatre Centre) was involved in preparing the event, while Renzo Barsotti was artistic director and in charge of producing the event and hiring the musicians. "Ministério dos Filmes" produced the video with Marco Martins as film director.
Various organisations and personalities were also took part, such as the Lisbon Film Orchestra, Fanfarrones, the Choro Raspas e Tachos quartet. Rui Gonçalves, Carlos Gonçalves, Jorge Simões, Sérgio Duarte, Rui Chaínho, Gonçalo Marques, Alexandre Andrade, Hélder Perdigão, Guto, Lucena, Jorge Reis, Vítor Carvalho, Telmo, Nuno Fernandes, André Sousa Machado, the Lisboa Cantat, the Encontro Choral Society, the University of Lisbon Choir, Antúnia, and the Gospel Collective, among others.
In total, around four hundred people made sure that a truly unique musical moment took place, providing a torrent of scenes full of non-stop flair, animated by singers, musicians, circus arts and extras that transformed Lisbon into a huge party, and which will be later used for the brand's Christmas campaign.
The mega flashmob was a magical moment for the city, enthusing those who got involved in this unique event, and enabling them to live an unrivalled experience that only major brands are able to offer.
Despite being in existence for many years, flashmobs continue to be the fashion for brand activation events due to their enormous capacity to create unique moments and surprise major audiences.

- 118 event production professionals
- 119 musical instruments
- 60 microphones,
- 20 loudspeakers
- 10 cameras
- 22 hours of practice sessions

Optimus and Music

Optimus and Music

Optimus has been supporting music since it was set up in 1998, and is proof yet again of the fact that music really is part of the brand's DNA. Its strategy of support to music is demonstrated in projects of a range of different sizes and musical styles. These range from niche ones such as Optimus Hype focusing on electronic music, its musical publisher Optimus Discos, which has already provided more than 1 million free of charge and legal downloads, Clubbing Optimus, the Casa da Música's multicultural event, to major events open to the public such as Optimus Alive, which is considered to be one of the best musical festivals in Europe.
