This award is presented to organizations which make innovative use of digital technologies in exceptional ways to deliver substantial business value. "Thanks to an exceptional digital vision and its sustained digital business transformation, Schindler is a front runner in its industry. The MIT Sloan CIO Symposium Awards Committee is proud to present Schindler with the 2015 CIO Leadership Award", said Dr. George Westerman from the MIT Center for Digital Business.
Schindler globally harmonized its IT systems and business processes during the last years for new and innovative business solutions. Based on a new digital platform elevators and escalators are integrated over the Internet of Things into the entire value chain. Processed and analyzed data are provided in a closed-loop process to customer call centers as well as to field service technicians through iPhone based apps. Customers have at all times access to relevant data through a customer portal and/or the mySchindler app.
Michael Nilles, CIO of Schindler, commented: "This award is an outstanding recognition of our entire team which is taking digitization to the next level with great dedication and vigorous innovation for both, our customers and our employees. It substantiates our strategic efforts to further drive digitization in order to stay at the forefront of our industry."
