Sber presented an art installation titled 'Save the Planet' at Russian Creative Week, which runs from August 26 to 29 at Gorky Park in Moscow. The installation is the result of a creative collaboration between industrial designer and sustainable development engineer Bulyash Todaeva and artist Dima Rebus.

The art exhibit presented is a contemplation of humanity's responsibility for its environmental footprint and contemporary recycling technology that helps limit the negative impact of human beings on nature. Organic shapes in the form of lush green plants are reflected in the man-made art objects constructed from recycled materials. Divided into sections, the transparent geometric figure of the installation is a metaphor for the sorting process. Each fragment tells the story of how a popular material is recycled - paper, plastic, metal, glass. The installation immerses the viewer in the context of environmental issues, while showing the positive opportunities represented by recycling technology and the potential of using recycled materials in art.

We are living in the Anthropocene, where our actions have a serious impact on the environment. Aware of its responsibility in this matter, Sber is not only pursuing its own green transformation - it is bringing this issue to the forefront for broader discussion. We want to use art and visual imagery to draw everyone's attention to environmental issues and tell them what each of us can do to protect the planet. Our 'Save the Planet' program is about small steps everyone can make that lead to great changes. Its message is that together we can do more.

Senior Vice President for ESG, Sberbank

Mixed colors in melted plastic enable you to create any texture. The abstract shapes of the glass and metal object seem to have stood still at the moment of transition from one form to another. The paper composition is frozen in the shape of a complex biomorphic organism whose form is constantly evolving. The objects made from the most popular fractions show us the limitless artistic potential of recycled materials and help us figure out the labeling. The designation of the materials on the mirror surface is visual corroboration of the whole story. We need this so the viewers can immediately juxtapose the image and the sign. This knowledge will be useful and can be applied when they next take waste to be recycled.

Bulyash Todaeva

Co-creator of the art installation, industrial designer, engineer in the field of sustainable development

My vision is that the art object symbolizes the desire for an organic communion with the environment, the search for that vital balance between human activity and the ecology. Caring for the environment and understanding the usefulness of sustainable development should just as natural as seeing the benefits of personal hygiene is today. By turning waste sorting into an everyday habit, you are taking an important and beneficial step toward your own well-being and the well-being of our environment.

Dima Rebus

Co-creator of the art installation, contemporary artist

The appearance of the art installation coincides with the launch of 'Save the Planet,' a large-scale program by Sber that aims to involve a wide audience, including our employees, clients, and partners, in our environmental and social agenda and draw attention to issues important to every person related to improving the quality of the natural environment, promoting a healthier lifestyle, and caring about the world we will be leaving behind for our children.

In addition to the art installation, Sber will be holding a thematic discussion with members of the creative community about promoting an environmental culture in metropolises. Sberbank Managing Director for ESG Milana Verkhunova will moderate the session, which is titled 'Green City: How Artists, Designers, Creators, and Urbanists Promote an Environmental Culture in Metropolises.'
