SATS Ltd. announced operating results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 2013. For the quarter, the company reported unit services handled was 28,620 against 26,850 a year ago. Flights handled were 34,920 against 31,680 a year ago. Cargo/mail processed was 384,270 tonnes against 377,180 tonnes a year ago. Passengers handled 11.25 million against 10.73 million a year ago. Unit meals produced 5.29 million against 5.61 million a year ago. Gross meals produced 6.66 million against 7.24 million a year ago. In the third quarter of fiscal year 2013-14, the number of flights handled by SATS grew 10.2% and unit services increased by 6.6% year-on-year. Cargo throughput was up 1.9%. Passengers handled rose 4.8% to 11.25 million, driven by higher low-cost carrier traffic. Gross and unit meals, however, declined 8.0% and 5.7% respectively due mainly to the loss of Qantas' flights to Europe.

For the nine months, the company reported unit services handled was 83,140 against 77,120 a year ago. Flights handled were 100,570 against 91,580 a year ago. Cargo/mail processed was 1,127,100 tonnes against 1,105,290 tonnes a year ago. Passengers handled 32.95 million against 30.71 million a year ago. Unit meals produced 15.57 million against 16.49 million a year ago. Gross meals produced 19.75 million against 21.31 million a year ago. Except for gross and unit meals, all operating metrics grew in the first nine months of fiscal year 2013-14.
