S.P. KOROLEV ROCKET AND SPACE PUBLIC CORPORATION ENERGIA OPEN RSC Energia takes part in Korolev Lectures
January 26, 2016Today, January 26, Bauman Moscow State Technical University hosted the opening of the 40th Academic Lectures on Cosmonautics dedicated to the memory of Academician S.P. Korolev and our country's other outstanding scientists - pioneers of space exploration.
The organizing committee is headed by the general designer of RSC Energia, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yevgeni Mikrin. The co-chairman of the organizing committee is the general director of the State Corporation Roskosmos Igor Komarov, and deputy chairmen are: academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Victor Sadovnichi; academician of RAS Igor Fedorov; rector of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, academician of RAS Anatoli Alexandrov and academic secretary - doctor of engineering science Vera Mayorova.
'These year's Lectures are special in that they mark an anniversary. 70 years ago, along with our company, the whole rocket and space industry was founded. Yuri Koptev, who was in charge of the industry for many years, will review the results of many years of work. Igor Komarov will talk about the prospects for the development of the industry. These are the main academic lectures in our country dedicated to cosmonautics - a space science forum comparable in scope with a congress', - pointed out Yevgeni Mikrin.
The plenary session traditionally focuses on an interesting scientific problem. As a rule, this paper is presented by representatives of the Space Research Institute. This year's theme is Earth and climatic disasters on neighboring planets.
The lectures will take place on January 26 - 29, during these days there will be many plenary and splinter sessions, discussions and round tables held between representatives of science, education, authorities and business.
The key subjects are scientific legacy of space exploration pioneers and schools of design in rocket and space industry, fundamental problems of space science and the status of its specific areas, studies in history of space science and technology, humanitarian aspects of space flight, etc. Held at the Lectures will be a presentation of the first three volumes of the six-volume edition 'Development of our country's rocket and space science and technology', and the Special Engineering department of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University will host an exhibition dedicated to the memory of academician Boris Chertok.
There are plans to conduct more than 20 workshops within the framework of the Lectures. Altogether, the workshops of this representative space forum will feature more than 600 papers. More than 1000 specialists have already registered to participate in the lectures, and among them there are, as always, scientists, engineers and designers of RSC Energia.
