RaySearch Laboratories AB (publ) announced that University Medical Centre (UKC Maribor) Maribor in Slovenia placed an order for the radiation therapy treatment planning system RayStation® in November 2020. In doing so, UKC Maribor became the 700th customer to choose the system and Slovenia has become the 40th country with RayStation customers. RaySearch is committed to ensure that RayStation remains the premier treatment planning system, covering the broadest range of treatment delivery machines, and providing the most comprehensive functionality. The steadily growing installed base is a testament to the confidence cancer centers have in the system, with users ranging from world-renowned university hospitals through to smaller private clinics. UKC Maribor is one of two university medical centers in the country, providing specialist medical care for approximately one fifth of the population of more than two million people. The department of oncology is the newest of its kind in Slovenia and has two modern linear accelerators for cancer treatment. Since the first patient was treated with radiation therapy in November 2016, UKC Maribor has tripled the size of its oncology team. Around 1,000 patients per year are treated at UKC Maribor with 3D-CRT, IMRT and VMAT techniques. RaySearch has continuously evolved the capabilities of RayStation through regular releases. The latest version, RayStation 10B, was released in December 2020. New features include support for brachytherapy planning with automatic channel reconstruction and powerful dwell time optimization. These features enable faster and more consistent creation of high-quality brachytherapy plans. The order was received in November 2020 and is a 10-year fixed subscription with total order value of about EUR 1 million.
