BUMI CELEBRATES ITS 49th ANNIVERSARY

Jakarta, 28 June 2022

PT Bumi Resources Tbk. ("BUMI" or "the Company") turned 49 years old on 26 June 2022. In its brief history, BUMI was established on 26 June 1973 under the name of PT Bumi Modern engaged in hospitality and tourism, and in 1990, the Company launched an Initial Public Offering on the Jakarta Stock Exchange. Further, in 1998, the Company changed its core business to oil, gas, and mining industry, where in the year 2000, the Company changed its name to PT Bumi Resources Tbk until today.

As time progresses, and just like a growing and developing company, BUMI has experienced the ups and downs of business. BUMI successfully acquired both PT Arutmin Indonesia (Arutmin) and PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) in 2001 and 2003. Subsequently Tata Power shareholding in KPC and Arutmin in 2007 has helped BUMI accomplish better achievements. Also that BUMI managed to diversify its by exploring/entering the minerals industry by setting up PT BUMI Resources Minerals until it is fully developed and stands on its own.

However, in 2008 and 2013, during the financial crisis that hit the countries in the world, including Indonesia, BUMI is the country's largest coal producer also had to face various challenges in carrying out its business. The Company had to undergo various methods and stages to cope with the crisis that in 2016 BUMI had to restructure its debts for better business continuity in the future.

Looking back to the past two years, we have witnessed the Covid-19pandemic-battered economies across the world, including coal mining business. However, thanks to a great amount of persistence from the management and all employees, BUMI managed to overcome such hardship with success; the Company was even able to put itself in a better position than before. In 2021, coal industry saw a significant growth and contributed to the Company's performance recovery. This success is undoubtedly closely related to the effective business governance and strategy adopted by the Company, and therefore BUMI takes pride in the outstanding performance in which it has demonstrated itself as Indonesia's leading coal company.

Currently, BUMI has a new spirit and a new face. In addition to focusing on settlement of the restructuring of existing debt, BUMI is running its business with better management and governance. In carrying out its operations, BUMI often follows the environmental-friendly guidelines, provides high social benefits as well good governance, better known as the ESG principles (Environmental, Social and Governance). As part of the world's energy company, BUMI also has concerns over the future need for energy, which we often hear as "Green Energy".

As for BUMI's vision going forward: In addition to supplying coal that provides benefits to the people's life on a broad scale, BUMI also aims to prioritize environmental-friendly energy, use of renewable energy and diversification of coal into gas, as currently required by the government and the world.
