Philips, a leading manufacturer of mobile and stationary dictation solutions, today announced its Digital Pocket Memo 9600 series continues to be one of the leading mobile dictation devices in the country. The device improves the users' dictation experience and adapts to meet the needs of the ever-changing business environment through a design that leverages superior ergonomics and a leading-edge encryption system.

The Pocket Memo 9600's light-weight metal casing incorporates a one-thumb, four-position switch designed to allow users to blindly operate the device, so they do not have to worry about hand positioning while dictating. Additionally, the device has built in 256 bit encryption technology which works in real time to protect sensitive information from hacking and to prevent others from accessing the data if it is ever lost.

The device also has up to 21 hours of battery life that lets users conduct business without having to stop and recharge or replace batteries. Other key features of the Pocket Memo 9600 include:

  • Compatibility with Philips SpeechExec software, so technology updates are not required and you can operate within one secure system - from hardware to software.
  • Capability to be configured as a "read-only" device, so it cannot be used as a removable USB mass storage device.
  • Recording through a high quality microphone to reduce background noise interference.
  • Saving files in .dss pro format, which was specifically designed for recording voices at an incredibly high quality and reduced file size.

"We're constantly surveying professionals to find out how they are using dictation devices, so we can develop products that suit their needs and so Philips can set the standard for dictation on-the-go," said Wolfgang Spannlang, product manager at Philips Speech Processing. "By considering the needs of professionals in fields such as legal, insurance and sales, we've recognized the importance of producing a dictation device that is very durable, efficient and easy to use, yet has security features that a larger and more complex device might offer."

The Digital Pocket Memo 9600 will be featured at the LegalTech 2012 tradeshow in New York from January 30 to February 1, 2012 at Philips Speech Processing's booth (#1302).
