The Board of Directors of Oriental Peninsula Resources Group, Inc., at its meeting held on July 28, 2015, received and accepted the resignation of its Independent Director, Ms. Evelyn Tan Thai, effective immediately. Her resignation includes resignation from her post as Chair of the Remuneration
Committee. Ms. Tan Thai cited her "preoccupation with other endeavors" resulting to lack of time for the discharge of her duties as independent director.
After deliberation and nomination, the Board appointed Atty. Gioan Fernand A. Legaspi to fill in the vacancy in the Board and assume the position of Independent Director. He shall likewise head the Remuneration Committee as Chairman. He shall serve the remainder of the term of Ms. Tan Thai.
Atty. Legaspi is Senior Partner at Legaspi Barcelo & Salamera Law Offices (Lebarsa Law) from 2012 up to the present. He was Asst. Manager at the Legal Services Group of the Banco de Oro EPCI, Inc. in 2007. He also worked as Associate Lawyer at Benitez Parlade Africa Hererra Parlade and Panga Law Offices (PABLAW) from 2003-2004. He was Executive Assistant IV at the Sandiganbayan, Third Division from 1998-2003.
Oriental Peninsula Resources Group, Inc. is a Philippines-based investment holding company. The Company is operating through mining segment. The mining segment is engaged in the mining and exploration of nickel saprolite and limonite ores. It owns approximately 99% in Citinickel Mines and Development Corp., which has two mining sites located in the municipality of Narra and Sofronio Espanola, both in Palawan is primarily engaged to prospect, explore, locate, acquire, hold, work, develop, lease, operate and exploit mineral lands for chromite, copper, manganese, magnesite, silver, gold, and other mineral products.
