(Alliance News) - Omer Spa announced Monday that it has signed a contract with Hitachi Rail to supply furniture components and fairings for 40 Frecciarossa ETR 1000 trains commissioned by Trenitalia.

The value of the contract, the amount of which was not disclosed, "will contribute to the backlog in a percentage within a range of 15 to 20 percent," the company specified in a note,

These are new full Hitachi trains - that is, made exclusively by Hitachi Rail - intended as a priority for the Italian network, although prepared to run on Europe's High Speed networks.

The new trainsets, which retain the main characteristics of the trains already in circulation, "will present evolutions from the point of view of interior design," adds Omer. "The ETR 1000, moreover, is also particularly appreciated for the low environmental impact it guarantees, in addition to being known for its excellent performance in terms of acceleration and quietness and for its reduced vibrations.

Omer is scheduled to begin deliveries starting in 2025, with a contract term expected through 2028.

Omer's stock rises 12 percent to EUR3.33 per share.
