Nikola Corp. announced that Carey Mendes president of energy is resigning from the company, marking the second executive leadership change in a month for the Phoenix-based electric truck maker. Mendes is joining another company based on the East Coast.

The company initially announced Mendes' departure in an August 17, 2023. Mendes will be succeeded by Ryan McGeachie, who will oversee Nikola Energy and the company's HYLA brand, effective September 4, 2023. McGeachie most recently served as Nikola's global head of integrated hydrogen solutions, according to Nikola spokesman Dan Passe.

Mendes joined Nikola in October 2021 as head of energy finance. In August 2022, Mendes was promoted to president of energy and spearheaded the launch of the company's HYLA brand, which represents its hydrogen refueling business.
