top-10 rankings for Internet Hot Figures, Internet Hot Key Words,
Entertainment Stars, Sports Persons, Entrepreneurs, Hot Movies, Hot Music
Singles, Hot TV series, Fund companies, and A-share listed companies. The
report summarizes facts of maximum interest to Chinese netizens in these ten
fields as well as highlighting common features and the latest status of such
information.
On the list of Internet Hot Key Words of the Year, Sichuan Earthquake,
Olympics Games and Naked Picture Scandal rank at the top, having drawn the
most attention of netizens. "Shanzhai" and "thunderstruck," two terms that
originated on the Internet, also appear in the top-10 Internet Hot Key Words.
Unlike previous terms popular on the Internet, both of these have their own
news stories or social phenomena as background, and their durability is
thought-provoking.
As a result of the influence of the Beijing Olympic Games and the
sensation of the Naked Picture Scandal, sports persons (represented by Yao
Ming and Liu Xiang) and entertainment figures (represented by Edison Chen,
Gillian Chung, and Cecilia Cheung) received the most attention. Kobe Bryant,
David Beckham, and Michael Phelps are the only three foreigners on the ten
lists. Of these, Kobe is on two lists: top-10 Internet Hot Figures of the
Year and top-10 Sports Persons of the Year. On the list of entrepreneurs of
the Year, controversial figures (represented by Wang Shi, Huang Guangyu, and
Niu Gensheng) and heroes of commercial modes (represented by Ding Lei and Ma
Yun) are two kinds of entrepreneurs drawing widespread attention.
