The chief executives of Merck & Co., Johnson & Johnson and Bristol Myers Squibb have agreed to testify before a U.S. Senate committee about prescription-drug prices.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions announced on Friday that the hearing would take place Feb. 8.

Chris Boerner of Bristol Myers Squibb, Joaquin Duato of Johnson & Johnson and Robert Davis of Merck will voluntarily testify in front of the committee.

Sanders announced Thursday that the committee would vote to subpoena Davis and Duato after they had declined an invitation to testify.

Boerner had already agreed to voluntarily testify on Thursday.

Sanders's office said the hearing would focus "on the outrageously high price of prescription drugs in the United States."
