Home race at Silverstone: More than 400,000 F1 fans packed the Silverstone grandstands last weekend to watch the British Grand Prix live. On Sunday, they witnessed an action-packed race, in which Lewis Hamilton put in an impressive performance to finish third. Sadly, his team-mate George Russell was obliged to retire after a collision at the start. For Lewis, it was his third podium of the season and his second in succession, the previous one having come two weeks before in Montreal. It was also podium number six of the campaign for the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team and all the sweeter this time for having come in their home race, not far from the factories in Brackley and Brixworth. With his 13th podium at Silverstone, Lewis set a new record for the most podiums at a single venue. He also set the fastest race lap, drawing level with Nigel Mansell's record for total fastest race laps at Silverstone (six). At the same time, it was Lewis's 60th fastest race lap in a Mercedes-powered car. Lewis posted eight laps as race leader, making the brand with the three-pointed star the first manufacturer to lead at least one race in 28 consecutive seasons.

Austria, here we come: From the 'Home of British Motor Racing', F1 proceeds directly to the Red Bull Ring near Spielberg in Austria for the eleventh round of the season next weekend. McLaren hold the record for most wins in the Austrian Grand Prix, having won there on six occasions, though none of those victories was secured in the period since the circuit made its F1 comeback. Ferrari and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team each have five wins to their name. Three different drivers have won at Spielberg for Mercedes-AMG, namely Nico Rosberg (2014, 2015), Lewis Hamilton (2016) and Valtteri Bottas (2017, 2020). The most successful engine manufacturer in the Austrian GP is Ford with a tally of nine victories, one more than Mercedes-AMG whose cars have won eight times at Spielberg so far. The track record is a time of 1:02.939 minutes set by Valtteri Bottas in the 2020 qualifying, while the fastest race lap was clocked by Carlos Sainz's McLaren, also in 2020, in a time of 1:05.619 minutes.

Damage limitation in Marrakesh: The Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team travelled to Marrakesh last weekend, where Round 10 of the 2021/22 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship was held at the Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan. It was only the second time that the team had competed there. High ambient temperatures were not the only problem, but Nyck de Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne coped admirably with all the various challenges and delivered a strong performance in the race. While Nyck worked his way up from ninth on the grid to finish sixth, Stoffel gained 12 positions to come home in P8. The two drivers scored valuable points towards the Drivers' and the Team Championships. Both World Championships saw a change at the top over the weekend. Victory for Edoardo Mortara (139 points) propelled him into the lead in the Drivers' Standings ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne (128), leapfrogging Stoffel (125 points) who had been leading the standings since Monaco. Nyck (73 points) is in seventh place. At the same time, the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team (198 points) dropped back to third place in the Team Standings, where Venturi Racing (205 points) now holds the lead ahead of DS Techeetah (203 points). However, there is still everything to play for in both championships. The next two races will take place on 16 and 17 July in New York.

Further podium success for AKKODIS ASP at the Misano World Circuit: On the penultimate race weekend of the 2022 GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup, Timur Boguslavskiy (FIA) and Raffaele Marciello (SUI) were once again in fine form, claiming the runner-up spot on both Saturday and Sunday. In the two races at the Misano World Circuit, speedy and immaculate pit stops and driver changeovers by the AKKODIS ASP team were rewarded with positions gained. In the first one-hour race, Marciello also clocked his sixth fastest race lap of the season. The AKKODIS ASP duo sharing the cockpit of the #89 Mercedes-AMG GT3 once again underscored their title ambitions, as they have now finished on the podium seven times in eight races this season. There is an 11½-point gap separate them from the leaders ahead of the Sprint Cup finale at Spain's Circuit Ricardo Tormo on 17th and 18th September. Further Top Ten finishes were registered by Jules Gounon and Jim Pla (both FRA), who finished sixth and tenth in the number 88 sister car, and by team-mates Thomas Drouet (FRA) and Casper Stevenson (GBR) in the #87 car, who took ninth place on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 contingent were celebrating two overall and three further class wins in the GT4 European Series support programme. Lluc Ibañez (ESP) and Enzo Joulié (FRA) driving the number 15 car of NM Racing first won the Silver category on Saturday and then put in a heroic performance on Sunday to claim victory in the general classification. Jean-Luc Beaubelique and Jim Pla (both FRA) in the #87 AKKODIS ASP car won Saturday's race. Benjamin (FRA) and Mauro Ricci (ITA) were also in action for the French squad, driving the #61 Mercedes-AMG GT4 and finishing first in the AM class on both days.

Winward Racing are GTD runners-up in the ninth round of the IMSA: Following the six-hour race at Watkins Glen on the previous weekend, the North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship held its ninth round of the season at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near the town of Bowmanville on Sunday. There were two Mercedes-AMG GT3s contesting the endurance race over a duration of two hours and 40 minutes. Philip Ellis (SUI) and Russell Ward (USA) drove the #57 GT3 of Winward Racing to second place in the GTD class with a strong performance. Mercedes-AMG driver Ellis put the leader under constant pressure in the final third of the race, but was unable to deliver the coup de grace. The German-American pairing were ultimately a mere 0.493 seconds shy of victory. Daniel Juncadella (ESP) and Cooper MacNeil (USA) narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the GTD Pro class on Sunday. Driving the number 79 WeatherTech Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, the two drivers finished fourth, less than two seconds behind the third-placed driver. Both cars nonetheless secured the fastest lap of the race in their classification.

Four Mercedes-AMG GT4s were also in action in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, which produced an outstanding one-two for Murillo Racing, with Eric Foss and Marc Miller in the number 56 car winning Saturday's two-hour race ahead of their team-mates Kenny Murillo and Christian Szymczak in the #72 sister car. The Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing teams posted another one-two in the Bronze category, with Gary Ferrera and Kris Wilson in the number 11 Capstone Motorsports car taking the class win, leaving Brent Mosing and Tim Probert (all USA) in the third Murillo GT4 (#65) to content themselves with second place.
