Daimler AG announced that Markus Schaefer (48), currently responsible for vehicle production planning at Mercedes-Benz Cars, has been appointed as a member of the divisional board of Mercedes-Benz Cars with responsibility for manufacturing and procurement. He thus takes over the functions of Andreas Renschler, who is leaving the company of his own accord and by mutual consent. Andreas Renschler will cease working with immediate effect.

The Supervisory Board of Daimler AG unanimously approved the termination of his contract of service. Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars: During his time as a member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, Andreas Renschler gave commercial vehicles business a global reach. Markus Schaefer (48) is taking over responsibility for Manufacturing and Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the field of manufacturing. Most recently, he was responsible for the production planning of Daimler's car business. Before that, Markus Schaefer was President and CEO of MB USI in Tuscaloosa, where the new C-Class will be produced for the North American market in the future.

The Mercedes-Benz Vans division under Volker Mornhinweg will report in the future to Wilfried Porth, Board of Management Member for Human Resources and Labor Relations Director of Daimler AG. Wilfried Porth has extensive experience in the van business from his previous responsibilities.
