Members of MPC's Ohio Refining Division (ORD) Emergency Response Team (ERT) recently partnered with the Wayne County Firefighters Association to conduct training at the Association's newly upgraded facility.

Funding for the Wayne County Regional Training Facility's multi-million dollar overhaul included a $40,000 grant from the Marathon Petroleum Foundation. The facility now features trainings in multiple disciplines and live scenarios. It also includes a new state-of-the-art building, housing training rooms and practical simulators.

Since 1992, the facility has provided training to local emergency response agencies. Annually, more than 2,000 students from six different states attend classes there. As part of the exercise, the ORD ERT team experienced live fire, rope rescue and confined space training. The members of the ERT work closely with local agencies to provide confined space, high angle and trench rescue support. Throughout the years they have responded to several of these types of emergencies in the surrounding communities.
