HOUSTON (AP) _ LyondellBasell Industries (LYB) on Friday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $855 million.

On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had profit of $2.55. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $2.19 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.31 per share.

The oil refiner and chemical company posted revenue of $7.94 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $7.15 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $1.43 billion, or $4.24 per share. Revenue was reported as $27.75 billion.

LyondellBasell shares have decreased roughly 5% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased nearly 1%. The stock has climbed 5% in the last 12 months.
