Lufthansa manager Jens Fehlinger is to become head of the Group subsidiary Swiss Airlines.

The 43-year-old will take up his new post on October 1, succeeding Dieter Vranckx, who will move to the Executive Board of the Lufthansa Group on July 1, 2024, as the Group announced on Friday. Fehlinger began his career at the Lufthansa Group in 2006 and took on many management functions in the following years. For example, he was in charge of strategy and business development at Lufthansa Airlines. Most recently, Fehlinger managed the airline Lufthansa Cityline as Co-Managing Director and at the same time built up the new airline Lufthansa City Airlines.

Fehlinger holds a commercial pilot's license for the Airbus A320 and currently flies for Lufthansa Cityline. The father of two studied aviation systems engineering and management in Bremen and transportation at Darmstadt Technical University. Swiss board member Heike Birlenbach will temporarily manage the Lufthansa subsidiary until Fehlinger takes over in October.
