Stadtwerke Munchen (SWM) and Landis+Gyr sign a contract to supply intelligent heat meters and their corresponding communication modules, aimed at enhancing and optimizing the municipal energy supply.

For several years, Stadtwerke Munchen has been pursuing a two-supplier strategy for its tenders, with quality, long-term collaboration, and trust as well as price being decisive factors for the award. Both contracting parties already have a long-standing, trusting collaboration, which is now being strengthened by a new extension.

In this context, Landis+Gyr was able to successfully conclude a framework agreement for the delivery of heat measuring devices. The partnership includes the delivery of T550 heat measuring devices in sizes Qp 0.6 - 150m-3/h for the entire year 2024. As part of the digitization process companies additionally signed the framework agreement for communication modules suporting wMBus, LoRa

and NB-IoT, valid until the end of 2025.

The adoption of intelligent heat meters and IoT connectivity streamlines the municipal energy management processes, improves the reliability of the energy supply, and facilitates proactive maintenance. Residents will, in turn, experience more accurate and

efficient energy consumption monitoring, leading to potential cost savings and increased awareness of their energy usage and potential savings. The partnership between Landis+Gyr and Stadtwerke Munchen is a significant step towards an efficient and future-oriented energy supply. This modernization effort will contribute to a more sustainable and efficient energy infrastructure for the Bavarian capital, aligning with the city's commitment to environmental stewardship and smart city initiatives.
