Intron Technology Makes Strategic Investment in British AI Robotics Start-up Antobot

(31 May 2021, Hong Kong) - Intron Technology Holdings Limited ('Intron Technology' or the 'Group'; HKEX: 1760), a fast-growing automotive electronics solutions provider in China, has made a strategic investment into Antobot, a UK headquartered award-winning start-up developing cutting-edge intelligent robotics on AI platforms.

Intron Technology, which has growing influence in the development of R&D Platform for New Energy Vehicles and future automated driving with empowered AI technology, recognises the importance of continual innovation and technological integration in R&D development. The investment in Antobot will give the Group an opportunity to explore and integrate intelligent robotics technologies with its own relevant expertise.

Founded in 2019 by embedded AI and robotics controls experts in Cambridge, UK, Antobot is well-placed to capture the growing market. Antobot's first product line is its fully integrated automotive-grade universal Robot Control Unit (uRCU®), the 'brain' of the robot. Instead of being driven by multiple separate modules, uRCU®'s sophisticated design combines the core hardware and advanced software for AI-robotic applications in one compact single unit. In addition, Antobot has plans to develop various full applications using its modular platform, starting with its scouting robot Insight. Initially focusing on the UK fruit sector, which was worth £875 million in 2019, Insight can travel autonomously through the farm and, using artificial intelligence, gathers accurate, timely and rich data for deeper insight into crop yield, profile, and pest/disease management.

The Antobot team has three core members: Dr. Howard Wu, CEO; Dr. Mart Magi, Head of Robotics; and Dr. Daniel Freer, Head of Software. Dr. Wu (Chartered Engineer) holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and has previously served Monitor Deloitte and Ford. Dr. Magi is a robotics expert with substantial industrial experience and holds a PhD degree from University College London. Dr. Freer is specialized in Computer Vision and Software, with a PhD from Imperial College London. With the core team having a strong and professional background, Antobot is the Champion of the Agri-EPI Agricultural Technology Hackathon in 2020 and was selected to join the REAP 2020 Start-up Showcase to spotlight its strengths.

As a partner of Antobot, Intron Technology will draw on its decades of experience in complex supply chain, manufacturing and quality assurance of automotive electronics solutions, to provide valuable support in bringing Antobot's uRCU® and Insight to market, expected in 2022. Antobot joins Intron Technology's other world-leading strategic collaborations, including Horizon Robotics, with the investment presenting the opportunity for Intron Technology to develop further ties in European markets after its recent success in expanding into Germany, facilitating valuable knowledge sharing and pursuit of R&D opportunities on the global stage.
