Holtek New HT45F3T Tinypower™ 3D Glasses MCU

Holtek presently announces its new HT45F3T Flash Memory MCU, a microcontroller especially designed for 3D Glasses applications. Included within its features are a Flash Program capacity of 2K x 16, 128 bytes of Data RAM and a 2.2V~5.5V operating voltage. Its system frequency is 4MHz which can be sourced from a fully internal high accuracy 4MHz RC oscillator. Additional features include an internal 4-channel 12-bit A/D converter and a single 10-bit Periodic Timer for generating PWM outputs. This latter function can be used for a DC/DC step-up voltage function to generate the 10V power supply for the 3D Glasses. A single 16-bit Periodic Timer is provided to decode the IR signals transmitted from the TV which is then used to control the 3D Glasses on and off switch. Two 10-bit Timer Modules are also provided to give the microcontroller a range of timer functions. A range of protection features are also provided such as an over voltage protection feature for the external DC/DC step-up voltage converter, as well as Low Voltage Detect (LVD) and Low Voltage Reset (LVR) functions for system voltage monitoring. If the system voltage falls below the LVR value, then the microcontroller will be automatically reset to avoid any unstable operation.


As the device is specially designed for 3D Glasses products, it contains many of the necessary functions to implement such applications. The device is manufactured with Holtek's Tinypower™ architecture technology, thus providing significant reductions in the MCU current consumption. This is a necessary feature for 3D Glasses applications as it can extend battery usage time thus reducing time between charges. The A/D converter can be used to measure the battery voltage to provide a battery replacement warning function.


The device is supplied in a 16-pin SSOP package, offering the advantages of reduced PCB area, a necessary requirement for 3D Glasses applications. In addition, this new device meets with industrial specifications and has excellent noise immunity as is the case with other Holtek 8-bit MCUs.
