Motorists going to the office and vacationers returning from
the provinces on Monday will have to deal with the return of
the number coding scheme.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority reminded motorists Sunday the scheme will be enforced again on the first working day of 2012.

When another netizen asked if the number coding will be in effect on Monday, the MMDA , "Meron po sir (Yes sir)."
The MMDA also maintained only it will have the authority to declare if the number coding is lifted.
"There is no such announcement that the number coding will be lifted on Jan. 2. Even if there were, only the MMDA can announce it," .
Number coding had been lifted since 1 p.m. of December 29 to allow Filipinos to return to their home provinces to welcome the New Year with their loved ones.
The number coding scheme aims to ease traffic congestion in Metro Manila by barring vehicles from major thoroughfares based on the last digit of their plate numbers.
Under the scheme, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 are barred from major thoroughfares from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those with plate numbers ending in 3 and 4 are barred on Tuesdays; 5 and 6 on Wednesdays; 7 and 8 on Thursdays; and 9 and 0 on Fridays. - LBG, GMA News
