--One of Generali's leading shareholders, the Benetton family, has sided with investors pushing for a change in management at the Italian insurer, Reuters says, citing an unnamed source.

--The Benettons, through their holding company Edizione, would join Francesco Gaetano Caltagirone and Leonardo Del Vecchio, who have put forward an alternative candidate to lead Generali in a challenge to current Chief Executive Philippe Donnet, according to Reuters.

--The Benettons control 3.96% of Generali, according to the insurer's website.
