FirstGroup : Save money off train travel with new app and personalised travel planner

Intercity train company TransPennine Express (TPE) is today launching a new mobile app making it easier to plan and book travel on the go.

The free app contains a brand new door to door planner, enabling customers to plan their journeys from home to their final destination with a step by step travel guide covering walking routes, train, bus and tram.

To celebrate the launch of the new app, TPE is offering an extra 25 per cent off Advance Purchase tickets booked between 10th and 31st January 2017 when bought through the app using the code APP25 or at tpexpress.co.uk/newapp. Full terms and conditions can be found online.

Customers can use the app to check live travel information and buy train tickets up to ten minutes before departure with zero booking fees, as well as collecting Nectar points.

Season ticket holders will also be able to use their mobile phone as their ticket for the first time in the UK.

More than 200 customers from across the North have helped test the app, with 73 per cent agreeing that it was easy to use.

Existing TPExpress app users should turn on automatic updates to get the new app. Alternatively, search 'TPExpress' in the App Store or Google Play to download it manually.

Any e-tickets for future travel saved on the current app will be transferred over into the new app.
