Rosseti FGC UES has upgraded Pskov Region's key main station

01/18/2021

The assembly of six state-of-the-art 330 kV SF6 circuit breakers has been finalized at the 330 kV Velikoretskaya Substation. It is the final phase of work to renew its switching equipment fleet. A total of 10 new systems were assembled at the facility, with the project cost totaling RUB 193 m. This resulted in more reliable power supply to the consumers of Pskov and adjacent areas, including the residents of Moglino Special Economic Zone and Velikiye Luki Railway Hub.

Circuit breakers are the main switching equipment of the substation. In case of short circuit, they break a circuit, thus preventing an accident from spreading. SF6 devices at the 330 kV Velikoretskaya Substation replaced their oil and air counterparts.

New circuit breakers offer better operational and technical characteristics, such as many-fold lower number of failures, lower maintenance and repair costs, higher wear resistance, reliability and breaking capacity.

The 330 kV Velikoretskaya Substation with a capacity of 400 MVA ensures delivery to the Pskovskaya GRES and is the main source of energy supply to the region with a population of about 626,000 people.
