The Seattle-based company said it had profit of $1.20 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $2.47 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.34 per share.

The computer networking company posted revenue of $700.4 million in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $700.6 million.

For the current quarter ending in March, F5 expects its per-share earnings to range from $2.36 to $2.48. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had forecast adjusted earnings per share of $2.61.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $690 million to $710 million for the fiscal second quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $690.6 million.
