Exxon Mobil Corporation announced the plans to build a crude oil rail loading facility next to the Strathcona refinery in Edmonton. The terminal will have a capacity of up to 250,000 barrels per day, of which the company plans to use 100,000 barrels a day to supply refining network. Connections to both Canadian National and Canadian Pacific mainlines will enable efficient, cost-effective transportation of heavy crude.

Construction is underway and start-up is expected in early 2015.
