Construction has begun at the 70MW Salvador solar project in northern Chile's region III that Etrion is developing together with Total and SunPower. Etrion expects the $200 million Salvador project, which stands to be the solar power plant based on spot market electricity revenues, to begin operations in late-2014 with full commissioning slated for early 2015. The first disbursement of the $140 million OPIC loan, secured for Salvador, was made in December 2013 and SunPower was given the go-ahead to start construction, the company said in its latest operations update.
