Pittsburgh - The EQT Foundation (Foundation) today announced their 2020 giving total of more than $3.5 million to various programs and organizations throughout the footprint of southwestern Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia, and eastern Ohio.

The EQT Foundation was established by EQT Corporation (EQT), the nation's largest producer of natural gas, and focuses its giving strategically within the core geographic areas of EQT Corporation's business assets. Since its inception in 2003, the EQT Foundation has awarded more than $67 million to nonprofits that make a difference in the lives of the individuals and families they serve.

'Last year was tough for many nonprofits in our operating areas,' said Ellen Rossi, President of the EQT Foundation. 'We are fortunate to be able to help so many, while simultaneously working with organizations on plans to rethink and retool existing programs and services. We look forward to continuing those efforts into 2021, as well as finding new partnerships as our operating area expands.'

Overall funds were awarded to several post-secondary scholarship programs, including the addition of four new scholarship programs partnering with community foundations in Doddridge, Marion, Tyler & Wetzel Counties in West Virginia and to expand programs already in place in Greene and Washington Counties in Pennsylvania, as well as in Belmont County, Ohio.

Additionally, through the EQT Corporation employee matching contribution program, the Foundation awarded more than $240,000 in matches to the nonprofits that mean the most to EQT personnel. This included more than $110,000 in matches made by employees on Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving on December 1, 2020, when employee donations are doubled by the Foundation.

In the spring, the Foundation awarded $360,000 in unrestricted COVID-19 emergency response to local community foundations and food banks throughout the operational footprint.

The Foundation also awarded more than $2.2 million in grants during 2020. The majority of these funds were geared toward programs in education and workforce, as well as community enrichment initiatives. The following initiatives were funded in the second half of the year:
