The global non-profit environmental organization CDP has recognized E.ON for its leadership in corporate sustainability. E.ON is thus one of only five percent of all 5,800 companies evaluated that can claim leadership level. The organization evaluates companies' climate protection measures in a neutral and scientific manner. The placement in the 'A List' is a recognition of E.ON's performance and transparency in environmental and climate issues. E.ON was recognized for its measures to reduce emissions, limit climate risks and develop a low-carbon economy.

Johannes Teyssen, CEO of EON: 'I am very proud that we have been included in the 'A List' of the CDP. Climate protection and sustainability are at the heart of our strategic orientation towards the New Energy World. We are determined to continue along this path and to further strengthen E.ON's position as a leading company in the field of climate and sustainability. We will be a climate-neutral company in 2040, and by 2050 we will have decarbonized our entire value chain.'

CDP uses a detailed and independent methodology to evaluate these companies. Depending on the number of points achieved, companies can thus be grouped into categories from A to D. The score is based on the amount of information disclosed, awareness and management of environmental risks, and demonstration of environmental best practices, such as setting ambitious and meaningful goals.

CDP's assessment is also increasingly being taken into account by investors. They are making the sustainability of companies an important criterion for their investment decisions. For example, in 2020, more than 500 investors with over $106 trillion in assets and more than 150 purchasers with procurement volumes of $4 trillion required companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through the CDP platform.

E.ON regards climate change and the increase in greenhouse gas emissions in our atmosphere as one of the greatest challenges of this century. E.ON fully supports the EU's climate targets and its commitment to the Paris Agreement. The company is fully aligned with the new energy world and enables the decarbonization, decentralization and digitalization of energy supply. The company's power grids are essential for the energy transition. By connecting renewable energies to the E.ON networks, E.ON is contributing to avoid about 100 million tons of CO2. With its business unit for innovative customer solutions, E.ON enables its customers to consume less energy, be more energy efficient and achieve their own climate targets.
