(Alliance News) - Eni Spa reported Monday that Enilive Iberia, Enilive's subsidiary in the Iberian Peninsula, has announced the closing of the acquisition of 100 percent of the shares of Atenoil, a company operating in the service station sector.

The transaction, which has been approved by the relevant authorities, involves 21 outlets in the Madrid, Andalusia and Castile-La Mancha regions. The new service stations will become part of the Enilive Iberia network, which will have a total of 38 outlets upon completion of the transaction.

"With this acquisition, Enilive Iberia improves its competitiveness in the territory and expands its presence to provinces where it was not present until now," the company explained.

In line with Enilive's sustainable mobility development strategy, the new network of service stations will support the needs of people on the move. In particular, the traditional range of fuels and lubricants will be joined by new biofuels from 100 percent renewable feedstocks such as HVOlution, HVO diesel of which Eni is the second largest European producer, and fast and ultra-fast electric charging from Plenitude, a subsidiary of Eni.

In addition, the Enilive Iberia network will give customers access to other mobility-related services: catering, convenience stores, and the Multicard Routex professional fuel card. In the catering field, Enilive Iberia has opened the first Eni Cafés, a format that has more than 1,200 outlets in Europe.

Davide Calabrò, president and CEO of Enilive Iberia, said, "With this acquisition, which comes three years after our return to retail in Spain, Enilive Iberia confirms its development goals and becomes an important player in the energy transition of the Iberian Peninsula."

"The acquisition of Atenoil confirms Eni's 2024-2027 strategic plan, which includes the expansion of Enilive's network of service stations by more than 300 premium outlets in strategic areas in Italy and abroad," the company concluded.

Eni's stock is up 0.9 percent at EUR14.63 per share.
