Eiffage has announced that, through its local subsidiary Smulders, in a consortium with HSM Offshore Energy and Iv-Offshore & Energy, it has won a contract awarded by Elia Transmission Belgium, the Belgian electricity transmission system operator.

This EPCIC (engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning) contract covers the construction of four AC power substations on Princess Elisabeth Island, a future artificial energy island off the Belgian coast.

Two of the substations will have a capacity of 1,050 megawatts, and the other two, 700 megawatts. The contract also includes a service module and a garage. Construction will start in May 2025 and is scheduled to last until the first quarter of 2029.
