Compass Minerals International, Inc. reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended March 31, 2024. For the second quarter, the company reported sales was USD 364 million compared to USD 411.1 million a year ago. Net loss was USD 48 million compared to USD 21.6 million a year ago. Basic loss per share from continuing operations was USD 1.16 compared to USD 0.53 a year ago. Diluted loss per share from continuing operations was USD 1.16 compared to USD 0.53 a year ago.
For the six months, sales was USD 705.7 million compared to USD 763.5 million a year ago. Net loss was USD 123.1 million compared to USD 21.9 million a year ago. Basic loss per share from continuing operations was USD 2.99 compared to USD 0.55 a year ago. Diluted loss per share from continuing operations was USD 2.99 compared to USD 0.55 a year ago.

The Salt segment produces and markets salt, consisting of sodium chloride and magnesium chloride, for use in road deicing for winter roadway safety and for dust control, food processing, water softeners and other consumer, agricultural and industrial applications. It operates 12 production and packaging facilities throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
