  • A ceremony was held on December 15 to celebrate that the T2 tunnel of South-North Motorway in Algeria jointly undertaken by CSCEC Algeria and China Construction Fifth Engineering Pision Corp., Ltd. (CSCEC 5th Bureau) was linked up. Minister Boudjema Talai highly praised the achievements in the project and congratulated the completion of the T2 tunnel.
Ambassador Yang Guangyu pointed out that the motorway is a national project of Algeria. Connecting important ports on the Mediterranean Sea which are to be constructed in Algeria at one end and other African countries at the other end, the project will become an important passage for cargo and passenger transportation.
The motorway project is regarded as the most difficult mega infrastructure project in Algeria. The T2 tunnel, 4,850m-long in total, is CSCEC's first overseas tunnel project, the longest tunnel in highways of Algeria and the most difficult and important part of the South-North Motorway Project. With the highest construction speed in Algeria, the project team completed the tunnel 15 days sooner than scheduled. (from CSCEC Algeria & CSCEC 5th Bureau)
