SPRING HILL, Fla., January 24, 2014- Personal Trust Administration Manager with Capital City Trust Company Anesta Boice was honored for exceptional community involvement before a packed arena at the Tampa Bay Lightning v. Ottawa Senators game on Thursday night. The occasion was part of the Lightning's Community Heroes program, whereby franchise owner Jeff Vinik and his wife Penny recognize one of Tampa Bay's most dedicated residents at each of the team's 41 regular season home games. Heroes receive $50,000 to be donated on their behalf by the Lightning Foundation to a non-profit of their choice. Boice selected Junior Achievement and the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay.

Boice was nominated by her associates at Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay who cited her tireless commitment to furthering their mission as well as service to a number of other community organizations. "Thousands of Hernando County residents," the nomination said, "have benefitted from Anesta's community involvement and exceptional leadership."

With a background in finance, Boice was particularly troubled by the lack of financial education children were receiving in school. As her own children progressed through the system, she saw that teachers had little time to prepare students for what life was like outside of school. Students were graduating with little understanding of how to balance a personal budget and other basic financial skills.

A classroom volunteer with Junior Achievement since 1997 and member of the JA of Tampa Bay Board since 2003, Boice helped build the community partnerships that enabled JA to thrive. Thanks to her efforts, all Hernando County eighth graders now benefit from JA financial literacy programs.

"Anesta is a champion for young people and for financial literacy," said Sam Shrieves, Capital City Bank president of Hernando and Pasco counties. "At Capital City Bank, we understand how important basic financial skills are to ensuring our children's future success. Anesta has made such a difference. It's a wonderful thing to watch her passion in action."

A founding member of the Community Foundation of Hernando County, Boice currently serves as co-chair of the Pasco-Hernando Council. She is also a member of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay Board of Trustees, a graduate of Leadership Hernando and active with the Greater Hernando Chamber of Commerce.
