Asia Carbon Industries, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2012. For the quarter, the company's revenues were $13.2 million, down 2% from $13.5 million for the same period in 2011. The decline in sales was mainly attributable to the decrease in the market selling price of carbon black. Net income was $1.87 million, a decrease of 5.5% from $1.98 million for the same period in 2011. Basic and diluted earnings per share remained at $0.04 for the quarter ended June 30, 2012, the same as for the first quarter of 2011. Income from operations was $2.6 million compared to $2.7 million a year ago. Income before provision for tax was $2.6 million compared to $2.7 million a year ago.

For the six months, net income was $3.7 million or $0.07 per basic and diluted share compared to net income of $4.1 million or $0.08 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net sales were $25.8 million compared to $26.9 million a year ago. Income from operations was $5.1 million compared to $5.6 million a year ago. Income before provision for tax was $5 million compared to $5.6 million a year ago.
