On January 23, 2014, Carl Icahn released an open letter to shareholders of Apple Inc. In the letter, Icahn explained why he thinks Apple should buyback its shares. Further, Icahn stated in the letter that if his proposal receives majority shareholder support, then the Board should respect it and increase the repurchase program as requested. He added that this action will greatly enhance value for all long term shareholders.
