Antin Infrastructure Partners has announced the launch of Proxima, a project to create France's first independent high-speed train company, led by its two co-founders Rachel Picard and Tim Jackson, financed by Antin and backed by banks.

Responding to the demand for fast, low-carbon mobility, Proxima will enhance the TGV offer by providing passengers with more than 10 million new seats per year. It will initially link Bordeaux, Nantes, Rennes and Angers to Paris.

Proxima has signed a memorandum of understanding with Alstom for the delivery of 12 Avelia Horizon TGVs, with the first test run scheduled for early 2027, and an agreement has been reached with LISEA to use its new maintenance workshop near Bordeaux.
